SUNCOAST WALDORF SCHOOL
Waldorf schools have a unique style of teaching in which the children are given more freedom to play throughout the day and learn basic social and motor skills through their activities. This school in particular was hoping to improve the outdoor play areas in a cost effective way.
This design features three playgrounds for the different age groups that the school teaches. The play area to the West of the larger building is intended for toddlers, whose main method of play exists on the ground. This section has a sensory garden, a sandbox, and a swing set that can be used by the parents with their children on parent-child days.
The second play area is for kids in kindergarten through second grade, and kids at that age love to climb and be more involved with each other. The elements in this playground encourage children to use teamwork.
